Delts serving others
Service may be a requirement at Wittenberg University, but Iota Beta only sees a wonderful opportunity to give back to our community. Delta Tau Delta Fraternity is committed to serving the Adopt-A-School program nationally and Iota Beta is proud to serve our local schools. But this was not enough for the men of excellence, and in less than ten years Iota Beta's philanthropic efforts have grown to helping additional local, national, and global causes. Our current events are listed below.

Founded in 2006 by undergraduate members of the Theta Zeta Chapter of Delta Tau Delta International Fraternity, Bleed Purple strives as an organization to bring together the Greek community in an effort to support college students diagnosed with cancer. The Bleed Purple Foundation awards grants to college students in the form of medical bill and tuition relief grants to help relieve the suffering associated with all forms cancer.

In the year 2007, to celebrate its 150th managers, Delta Tau Delta International Fraternity pledged to raise $150,000 for Bleed Purple. Chapters across the nation held fundraiser's, which they created, dedicated to Bleed Purple. For Iota Beta, this evolved from a one time event to a wonderful tradition. In total, past events have raised just over $1,000.

  • St. Patty's Day MASH
    image
Giving back, is probably not on the minds of most college students during St. Patrick's Day. However, Wittenberg Delts saw a fantastic opportunity to raise money for a good cause. On St. Patrick's Day Iota Beta will be offering a well cooked Irish feast, featuring: corn beef, spuds, and green kool-aid.

The proceeds of the day will go towards Kan d'Espwa(Camp Hope) in Hati. The camp was a joint effort started in part by brother Conor O'Rourke of Iota Beta. The camp provides athletic training, equipment, and exercise for the poor children of Hati, in addition to keeping them off the streets and providing successful role models.

More information about the event, including times and location, can be found here.

  • Ice Cream Social for Save Darfur
    image
A new event, started in 2008 by Philanthropy Chair Brandon Fugate, held to raise money and awareness to the suffering in Darfur. The fundraiser featured a 100 yard ice cream sundae, stretched across the old HPERC Gymnasium, which could be purchased in 6 inch sections. The night also featured a speaker from the Darfur Project on campus. The proceeds of the event went straight to the Save Darfur Project.

The event raised just under $1000!
